From March to May 2020, In the middle of the Covid 19 pandemic, the Israeli Ministry of Health embarked on an emergency program to adapt existing medical facilities to deal with the flux of Covid patients. They chose Rom Engineering to lead a project of converting an intensive care unit into a corona department under severe time constraints. The project consisted of, inter-alia, adaptation and upgrade of various infrastructures (e.g. water, electricity, oxygen, sewage, communication, as well as adding facilities like morgue, resting room for staff, central command center etc. all these under strict isolation requirements and while the medical center continued all its ordinary activities. The project, that involved numerous contractors, was completed in a record time despite the disruptions caused by the lockdown.
